Woodrow Fred Piersall

October 13, 1945 — July 24, 2020

Woodrow Fred Piersall of Cuba, Missouri was born Saturday, October 13, 1945 at West Alton Missouri to the union of Woodrow and Vivian (Nee: Bradshaw) Piersall. He went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 24, 2020 at his home in Cuba at the age of 74 years.

Fred, as he was known by, was united in marriage to Sharon Kay Switzer on August 15, 1964 at Cottage Hills, Illinois and they became the proud parents of Dennis and Thomas.

Fred started his working career as a welder. He worked in St. Louis and then in Mount Vernon, Indiana. He then went on to work as a welder for the Boiler Maker's. The next twenty-five to thirty years, Fred and Kay teamed together and drove a semi cross country. They owned a Kenworth, Freightliner, Peterbilt and other semis.

Fred loved playing music, especially gospel and country. His radio, cassette or cd was always on. He enjoyed being outdoors, mowing grass and he enjoyed the time he got to be home.

He liked going to car shows, truck shows and in his younger years he enjoyed racing. He had a collection of 200 to 300 Harley T-shirts. What Fred treasured was the times that he got to spend with his grandchildren on the back doorstep having a popsicle. What he truly treasured most in life was spending time with his family and friends.

Fred had been going to the Frist Southern Baptist Church of Leasburg for the last ten years and Fred loved God.

He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Woodrow and Vivian Piersall; one son Thomas Lugene Piersall; sister Pat Sadler; brother Jim Nicklay and other family and friends.

Those who are left to treasure his memory and continue his legacy are his loving wife Kay Piersall of home; one son Dennis Piersall of Cuba; five grandchildren Michael and Mia Piersall of Licking, Missouri, Alicia and husband Phil Villemure of Affton, Missouri, Chelsey and husband Shawn Myers of Cuba, Anne Piersall of Winona, Missouri and Courtney Piersall of Mountain Grove, Missouri; great grandchildren Allison, Amelie, Chandler, Kaylee, Preston, Christian, Aurora, Bayley, Charleigh, Jared, Chris, Nathan and two more on the way; one brothers David and wife Cindy Nicklay of St. Peters, Missouri; brother-in-law Joe Sadler of Illinois, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial visitation will be held from 12:00 till 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2020 at the First Southern Baptist Church, 1861 Hwy H, Leasburg, Missouri.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2020 at the First Southern Baptist Church of Leasburg with Pastor Terry King officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Southern Baptist Church in Fred's memory.

The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Piersall family.
