Wonetta E. Lyerla

Wonetta E. Lyerla of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of Clarence and Ella (Price) Radford on April 2, 1934, in Reynolds, Missouri. She left from this life on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at The Arbors in Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 88.

Wonetta was united in marriage to Donald E. Lyerla on October 14, 1950, in Pocahontas, Arkansas.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Wonetta. She loved antiques, butterflies, her jewelry, photographs of her loved ones, clothes, shoes and dancing. She always loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with a glass of Velvet Red in hand.

Besides her parents, Wonetta was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Donald E. Lyerla and 12 siblings.

Those who are left to treasure her memory are her son Donald Lyerla of Bland, Missouri; her daughter Rhonda VanMeter & husband Carl, of Cuba, Missouri; five grandchildren, Eric Lyerla, Aaron Lyerla, Sara Walka, Jessica VanMeter and Ian Lyerla; seven great-grandchildren, Zeth Lyerla, Destiny Stovall, Jenell Light, Zandar Lyerla, Aliya Lyerla, Aydin Bechtel and Lane Lyerla; one great-great grandchild, Grafton Lyerla; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews and many of the kids’ friends that became family.

In keeping with her wishes, Wonetta will be cremated.

A time of sharing will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Mizell Funeral Home.

Inurnment will follow at Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
