Walter Joseph Lorenz of Cherryville, Missouri was born March 10, 1935 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Walter J. and Margaret (Nee: Mundwiller) Lorenz and left from this life on Monday, April 4, 2016 at St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 81 years. Walter worked in construction for thirty seven years and has farmed his whole life. Walter spent many days going to auctions to purchase cows and horses. Walter was born and raised Catholic. He attended St. Michael Catholic Church in Steelville until a few years ago when his health started declining. Walter enjoyed fishing, hunting, music and in his younger years dancing. Walter followed politics and always wanted to talk about his political party and candidate. His greatest love was his family. Walter was a loving son, brother, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, great uncle and friend of many. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Walter is preceded in death by his parents Walter J. and Margaret Lorenz, one daughter Teri Metts, one brother Harry Pflanz, one brother-in-law Dale Schmidt and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife of twenty four years Georgia Lorenz of the home, five children Joe and wife Sandi Lorenz of High Ridge, Missouri, Candi Thomas of House Springs, Missouri, Keith Lorenz of Steelville, Brian Lorenz of High Ridge, Missouri and Scott Lorenz of House Springs, Missouri, eight grandchildren Jenny Lorenz, Joe Lorenz, David Thomas, Carly Thomas, Jessica Lorenz, Levi Lorenz, Shannon Metts and Ron Metts, three great grandchildren Shaun Lorenz, Brooklyn Lorenz and Kryslyn Poley and a host of other relatives and friends. A memorial visitation will be held Monday, April 11, 2016 from 5:00 till 8:00 PM at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba, Missouri. A Celebration of Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, 415 W School Street with Father Rich Boever as celebrant. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael Catholic Church, East Highway 8, Steelville, Missouri 65565, in Walter's memory.
