Virginia Ollie Ostertag, loving Christian mother and grandmother, departed this world on August 12, 2007 at the age of 83 years 5 months and 10 days. She was born March 2, 1924 to William and Ollie Case in St. Louis, Missouri. She was married to Murl Ostertag in 1942. She was an accomplished typist, pianist, gardener and writer. Virginia worked at a U.S. Naval Station Hospital at San Leandro, CA. She was an executive secretary for Daughters of Charity and later for Sister of Mercy in St. Louis, MO. She was an executive secretary to the V.P. of United Van Lines in Fenton, MO. When she moved to the country, she was a secretary to the professor of Liberal Arts at University of Missouri, Rolla which she retired from. In the 1990's she was instrumental in getting Leasburg Ministerial Benevolence, "LAMB" started and worked with this for several years. She always had a place in her heart for the less fortunate in her community. She was a member of the Rolla Area Writers Club and was published in "The Anthology 2004". She was a member of the Methodist Church and was an organist for many years for the Baptist Church in Leasburg and later, the Methodist Church of Bourbon, MO. She was Mrs. Claus with her husband, Murl being Santa Claus at Boy Scouts and numerous community Christmas events. She will be dearly missed by her sons; Larry and wife Audrey Ostertag of St. James, MO and Randy and wife Rachel Ostertag of St. Louis, MO, one sister Marjorie Factor of Delaware, OH, grandchildren; Larry and wife Amanda of St. James, MO Kyle and wife Terri of Olathe, KS and Beth Sanders of St. James, MO, great grandchildren; Brandon and Matthew of St. James, MO, Emma and Bryson of Olathe, KS and Crystal, Caitlynn and Christopher of St. James, MO, many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Murl in 1990 and her parents. Visitation Thursday, August 16th from 5 till 8 PM at Britton Funeral Home of Cuba. Funeral Service 11 AM Friday, August 17th with Rev. Leo Shumaker officiating. Special music for the service; Amazing Grace and I Am Resolved provided by Darlene Cape. Burial at Crossroads Cemetery in Leasburg, Missouri. The Britton Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Ostertag family.
