Virginia Dale Umfress (nee: Ledbetter) of Bourbon, Missouri was born on August 25, 1929 in Solgohachia, Arkansas to the union of William Miles and Hazel Beatrice (Tice) Ledbetter and she left from this life on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 86. Virginia was united in marriage to William RB Umfress on February 19, 1944 in Rector, Arkansas and to this union seven children were born Donald, James, Peggy, Betty, Paul and two infant daughters. Virginia worked several years as a CNA at Sullivan Hospital and at Redwood Manor. She was baptized and professed her faith in Christ most of her adult life. She enjoyed reading her Bible, attending church, crocheting, puzzles and listening to gospel music. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband William RB Umfress; two infant daughters; one sister Heneritta Rhoades; one brother Eddy Lee Ledbetter; three grandsons Jimmy Umfress, Wm. Daniel Clark and David Salie. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her five children Donald Umfress of Leasburg, Missouri, James and wife Nancy Umfress of Cuba, Missouri, Peggy and husband James Salie of Columbus, Georgia, Betty and husband Gary Monda of Sullivan, Missouri, Paul Umfress of Sullivan, Missouri; one brother Charles and wife Vivian Ledbetter of Leasburg, Missouri; ten grandchildren Donald II, Derick and Brock Umfress, Travis and Robbie Umfress, Kimberly Galloway and Brian Salie, Scot Monda, Natasha McIntosh and Kevin Umfress; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 22, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016 11:00 a.m. at Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor Woodrow Martin, officiating. Interment and final prayers will follow at Delhi Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. If desired, memorials would be appreciated to Delhi Cemetery. The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Umfress family.
