Velma R. Fife (nee: Ray) of Leasburg, Missouri was born Tuesday, March 28, 1922 to the union of James F. Ray and Alice (nee: Halbert) Ray and left from this life on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 85 years and 24 days. Velma was united in marriage to C.C. "Duby" Fife, Sr. on March 4, 1942 at Rolla, Missouri and to this union four children were born; Junior, David, Tom and Mary Ann. Velma worked for Cuba Shoe Company for many years and during this time she traveled after work to Rolla to go to Beauty School. After finishing school Velma worked as a hair dresser for over 30 years in the surrounding area. Velma's favorite past time was spending time with the people she loved most, her family. Velma was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, sister in law, aunt and friend of many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Velma is preceded in death by her parents James and Alice Ray, her husband Duby Fife, one daughter Mary Ann Fife, one grandson Jeff Fife, one great grandson Conner Fife, one daughter in law Rhonda Fife, four brothers; Wilbur, Howard, Bert and wife Bernice and Len Ray, two sister in laws; Carol Ray and Margaret McKinney, six brother in laws; Fred R. and wife Volla Fife, Jess and wife Lisa Fife, Alfred Fife, Willard and wife Virginia Fife, Nelson Land and Doc King and her father in law and mother in law Fred W. Fife and Elizabeth (nee: clements) Fife and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to mourn her passing but to celebrate a life lived is her three sons; Junior and wife Sherry Fife of Bourbon, Missouri, David Fife of Leasburg, Missouri and Tom and wife Jean Fife of Leasburg, Missouri, ten grandchildren, many great grandchildren, four sisters; Nannie King of Leasburg, Missouri, Mildred and husband Sylvester Westrich of St. Ann, Missouri, Gertrude and husband Jim White of the state of Mississippi and Mary Alice Land of the state of California, one brother Curtis Ray of Leasburg, Missouri, two sister in laws Colleen Ray and June Fife and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation Sunday, April 22nd from 5 to 8 PM at Britton Funeral Home of Cuba. Funeral Service 11 AM Monday, April 23rd at Britton Funeral Home of Cuba with James Delacourt officiating. Special songs for the service is Amazing Grace and In the Garden. Grandsons serving as pallbearers. Burial at Lea Cemetery, Leasburg, Missouri. The Britton Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Fife family.
