Shorty Moreland

March 10, 1950 — January 6, 2013

Ronald Clay "Shorty" Moreland of Cuba, Missouri was born Friday, March 10, 1950 at Vichy, Missouri to the union of Richard and Madge (Waidelich) Moreland and left from this life surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at his home in Cuba at the age of 62 years 9 months and 27 days. Shorty served in the Missouri National Guard from 1968 till 1975 with the 1438th Combat Engineers. During his life he worked different places; Meramec Electrical Products Company, Precision Metal, Callaway Power Plant just to name a few. But he also did sales for Mid-West, was a truck driver and worked at both of the lumber yards. Shorty was a member of the First Baptist Church and he truly enjoyed all of his hobbies; hunting, fishing, playing pool, cards, riding motorcycles and four wheelers. His favorite thing in life though, was spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends. Shorty was a loving son, brother, brother-in-law, husband, father, father-in-law, grandpa, uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend of many. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Madge Moreland and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his companion of twenty seven years and love of his life Colleen Moreland of the home, five amazing children; Jennie and husband Larry Whittaker, John and wife Alexis Moreland, Joe and wife Jennifer Moreland, Jake Moreland and companion Paige Williams and Faye Moreland all of Cuba, six beautiful grandchildren Wyatt, Luke, Aubree, Lexie, Aiden and Trayton, two brothers Bill and wife Sharon Moreland of St. James and Dale and wife Carol Moreland of Dexter,Missouri, sister Marilyn and husband Don Licklider of St. James, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, brother-in-laws and sister-n-laws of the Winn family and a host of other relatives and friends. Memorials contributions may be made to Mizell Funeral Home, to help the family establish a memorial in honor of Shorty. In keeping with Shorty's wishes he was cremated and there will be no public services. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Moreland family.
