Ruth Alma Barr

Ruth Alma Barr of Cuba, Missouri was born Tuesday, September 23, 1913 at Chicago, Illinois to the union of George and Lula (nee: Benight) Lane and left from this life on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Steelville, Missouri at the age of 96 years 11 months and 15 days. Ruth was united in marriage to Stanley Arthur Barr. She worked for the Indiana Civil Services for many years as a court clerk, office clerk and jail clerk in Crown Point, Indiana before retiring in 1978. Ruth worked for the Democratic Party for over 35 years, was an avid bridge player and quilter. After retirement Ruth and Stanley would spend winters in Florida and traveled out of the country many summers on vacation. She was a member of the Cuba United Methodist Church for 32 years. Ruth loved her family and friends and always enjoyed visiting with them. Ruth was a loving daughter, sister, sister-in-law, wife, aunt, great aunt, great-great aunt, cousin and friend. She will be truly missed by all who know and love her. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents George and Lulu Lane, husband Stanley Barr, brother-in-law Vernon W. Hoshaw and other relative and friends. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy is her loving sister Esther G. Hoshaw of Cuba and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, cousin and friend of many. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 11, 2010 from 5:00 till 7:00 p.m. at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba. Funeral service will be 7:00 p.m. Saturday, September 11, 2010 at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba with Pastor Paul Lathum officiating. Interment and prayers will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 13, 2010 at the Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, Indiana. The Britton Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving Ruth郢邀邙s family.
