Roberta M. Chapman

Roberta M. Chapman of Cuba, Missouri was born December 28, 1913 at Bourbon, Missouri to the union of Benjamin and Gertrude Crow and left from this life on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Cuba at the age of 97 years 7 months and 16 days. Roberta was united in marriage to Virgil E. Chapman on April 12, 1947 at Bourbon, Missouri and to this union three children were born Gary, John and Maureen. They were happily married for 56 years. Roberta and Virgil were the owner/operators of the Chapman Dry Cleaners in Cuba for 35 years before they retired. In her spare time she enjoyed making Christmas ornaments out of beads, sewing, cross stitching and spending time with her family was most important to her. Roberta was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt, great aunt, great-great aunt and friend. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents Benjamin and Gertrude Crow, husband Virgil E. Chapman, one son John Chapman, two brothers Marion and Floyd, four sisters Vera, Effie, Maude and Minnie and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her two children Maureen and husband James Godbey of Steelville and Gary and wife Beverly Chapman of Belpre, Ohio, daughter-in-law Nancy Chapman of Lee Summit, Missouri, sister-in-law Dorothy Crow of Sullivan, Missouri, nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and one on the way, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews and friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 15, 2011 from 5 till 8:00 p.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, August 16th at the Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba with Pastor Mark Godbey officiating. Special music for the service will be provided by Bob and Carol Coleman. Interment and prayers will follow at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Sullivan, Missouri. The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Roberta's family.
