Robert Elmer "Bud" Blume of Cuba, Missouri was born May 2, 1929 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Elmer F. and Margaret (Nee: Pfau) Blume and left from this life on Monday, February 16, 2015 at Cuba, Missouri at the age of 85 years. During 1942, in St. Louis, Bud received his welding certificate at the young age of thirteen. He worked as a welder for nearly six years before enlisting in the United States Army. Bud proudly served from March 29, 1948 till March 28, 1952. After the Army, Bud was united in marriage to the love of his life Pearl Lucille Ellis. They were married on October 2, 1952 at the First Baptist Church of Cuba and to this union three beautiful daughters were born Nancy, Susan and Sandra. During 1955 they bought a farm and Bud then spent hours and years taking care of the cows, pigs, equipment and fence rows. From the late 1950's till the early 1960's Bud taught welding in St. Louis, Jefferson City and Rolla. Bud went back to school during the 1960's at Purdue University and there he learned how to weld plastic. In 1964 Bud became an apprentice for the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #562 in St. Louis and retired from the union in 1991 after twenty seven years of dedicated service. Bud owned Cuba Hardware from 1975 to 1987. He delivered trailers for Cowtown, Jim's Motors and Flying A from 1987 to 1994. In 1994 Bud went to work for Midwest Sales in Cuba and retired from there in 2007. After retirement Bud enjoyed watching the Game Show Network, AMC Channel, the news at 5:00 PM each day and word search books. Bud was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cuba for most of his lifetime and he was very active in church after he retired. Bud spent his life working, taking care of the farm and his family. He never worked on Sunday, for that day was for church, family and friends. Bud was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, great uncle, cousin, brother-in-law and friend of everyone he ever met. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Bud is preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Margaret Blume, three sisters Eleanor Stewart, Gloria and husband David Adams and Anita and husband Warren Glassey, one sister-in-law Betty Blume, two brothers-in-law Russell Ellis and John Miller and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy is his loving wife of sixty two years Pearl Lucille Blume of the home, three daughters Nancy J. Montgomery of Cuba, Susan E. and husband Randy Counts of Sullivan and Sandra K. and husband Larry Farris of Cuba, seven grandchildren Mark and wife Emily Pfeiffer of Cuba, Michael Montgomery and fiancé Casey Watson of Cuba, Mariah Montgomery of Cape Girardeau, Jonathon Counts and fiancé Brittany Kline of Sullivan, Sarah Counts and fiancé Wayne Dupree of Sullivan, Rachael Harris of Cuba and Rebecca Farris of Cuba, ten great grandchildren Aurora, Victoria, Ila, Taryn, Maverick, Kamren, Emma, Annica, Hayden and one to be born in August, one brother Donald L. Blume of Ellisville, Missouri, one sister Alberta Miller of Riverside, California, three sisters-in-law Leona and husband Larry Yates of St. James, Linda and husband Robert McArthur of Clarksburg, Missouri and Cloetta Ellis of Gray Summit, one brother-in-law Raymond and wife Shirley Ellis of St. James, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 18, 2015 from 5:00 till 8:00 PM at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 19, 2015 at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba with Pastor Ken Martin officiating. Special music will be "Amazing Grace" by Mariah Montgomery and Debbie Watts to play "The Old Rugged Cross", "One More Valley One More Hill" "Just As I Am" and "In The Garden". Interment, prayers and full military honors will follow at the Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. Honored to serve as pall bearers will be Rusty Ellis, Larry Farris, Mark Pfeiffer, Michael Montgomery, Jonathan Counts and Randy Counts. Memorial may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Bud's memory. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to serve the Blume family.
