Robert Donald Brunts

Robert "Bob" Donald Brunts of Cuba, was born September 12, 1937 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Henry and Helen (nee: Krapft) Brunts and left from this life on Sunday, February 17, 2008 at St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 70 years 5 months and 5 days. Bob was united in marriage to Ruth Walsh in St. Louis, Missouri. Bob was the proud father of Kathy, James, Mike, Sandi, Greg, Bobby and Shawn. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked for 40 years as a Grocery Manager for Schnucks in the St. Louis area and he built houses in the St. Louis area and the Cuba area for the last 10 years. In his younger years he enjoyed playing softball for Our Lady of Lourdes Men's Club. He enjoyed taking his B-Troop (family) camping and on vacation. He enjoyed all sports, especially when his children and grandchildren were playing. He liked a good Western or War movie, Walker Texas Ranger and Benny Hill. He was known as the "King of Surprise" to his family and the "Potatoe King" at school. He helped with the Special Olympic's and the Crawford County Relay for Life program. Bob was always ready for a good competition whether it was at horseshoes, washer or who could hit the trash can first and/or the most times, but what mattered most to him was his family. Spending time with them and even cooking or baking for them. Bob was a loving son, brother, husband, dad, grandpa, great grandpa, brother in law, uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend to everyone. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Bob is preceded in death by his parents; Henry and Helen Brunts, one son Jimmy Brunts, one grandson Joey, one brother Richard Brunts, two sister in laws; Dorothy and Dolly Brunts and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to celebrate a life lived is his loving wife Ruth of the home, two daughters; Kathy and husband Rick Mitchell of Vancleave, Mississippi and Sandi and husband Ron Thomas of Moreland, Kentucky, four sons; Mike and wife Janet Brunts of Green Cove Springs, Florida, Greg and wife Linda Brunts of Florissant, Missouri, Bobby and Shawn Brunts of Cuba, Missouri, two brothers Eugene and wife Donna Brunts of Creve Couer, Missouri and Len Brunts of Sullivan, Missouri, fourteen grandchildren; Kimmy, Drew, Kelly, Katie, Josh, Angie, Taylor, Lucas, Kevin, Sammy, Cody, Jessica, Kyle and Ashley, five great grandchildren; Chad, Trenton, Mitchell, Sara and Austin and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation Tuesday, February 19th from 5 till 8 PM at Britton Funeral Home of Cuba. Funeral Service 11 AM Wednesday, February 20th at Britton Funeral Home with Brother James Self officiating. Special music; Amazing Grace, When I Get to Where I'm Going and Go Rest High on That Mountain. Interment to follow at Bourbon Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Crawford County Relay for Life, in Bob's memory, would be greatly appreciated. The Britton Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Brunts family.
