Richard John Buchka of Cuba, Missouri was born April 13, 1947 at Waynesville, Missouri to the union of John Fred Louis and Wilma Ann (Nee: Nolting) Buchka and left from this life on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at his home in Cuba at the age of 68 years. Richard proudly served four years in the United States Navy. After returning home, from the Navy, Richard went to work as a cook. He worked for the Wagon Wheel, Rolla Manor, The Outpost, The Bopper Café', Voss Truck Port and ended his cooking career at East Office. He retired in 2010. Richard was a long time member of the St. John's Lutheran Church of St. James, Missouri. He was an excellent cook and had a green thumb. He made many crafts and his Christmas ornaments were amazing. Every year his Christmas tree looked like the cover of Home and Gardens magazine. Richard was known for his cake decorating skills. Richard was a loving son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, great-great uncle and friend. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Wilma Buchka, half-brother Louis Buchka and other family and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his brother Wilbert and wife Stella Buchka of Cuba, sister-in-law Jean Buchka of Urbana, Illinois, niece, nephew, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews and other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Buchka family.
