Richard Charles Maurer

Richard Charles Maurer of Indian Hills in Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of Charles and Dorothy (Fachett) Maurer on September 29, 1935 in St. Louis, Missouri and left from this life on Friday, September 30, 2011 at his home at the age of 76. Richard retired after many years in Restaurant Management for Red Lobster Restaurants in Texas. He was bilingual in five languages and enjoyed reading his Bible daily, history buff, talking politics, watching football and playing pinochle at the Cuba Senior Center. Richard is preceded in death by his parents Charles Maurer and Dorothy (Fachett) Hutter. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his children Kathy and husband James Barry of Wildwood, Missouri, April and husband David Terry of Dallas, Texas and Tammy Maurer, Steven and wife Kathy Mangrum of Hermann, Missouri; two grandchildren Stephen and Nicholas Barry of Wildwood, Missouri; two-step-grandchildren Patricia Barry and James Barry, Jr. both of Wildwood, Missouri; three step-great-grandchildren Parker, Sydney and Rieley; one brother Michael Maurer of Cuba, Missouri; one sister Mariana and husband Erwin Hageman of Mehlville, Missouri; step-father Charles Hutter of St. Louis, Missouri; four nieces Laura Maurer, Nancy McGrath, Susie Gilbert and Cindy Kleinhans; one nephew Douglas Maurer; several great-nieces and great-nephews and many friends. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2011 6:00 p.m. until time of the Funeral Service 7:00 p.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri. As per his request cremation will follow the services. In lieu of flowers memorials would be appreciated to the Cuba Senior Center 206 N. Smith St. Cuba, Missouri 65453. The Mizell Funeral Home is Honored to be serving the Maurer family.
