Rev. Herman Will Rogers, Sr. was born Tuesday, April 20, 1937 at Sullivan, Missouri to the union of Lee R. and Gustie (Nee: Almo) Rogers. He went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at St. James Living Center, St. James at the age of 82 years.
Herman proudly served in the United States Army from 19 May 1959 till 22 May 1962. He earned the Marksman Badge Missile, Marksman Badge Carbine and the Good Conduct Medal.
Herman was united in marriage to Etta Mae Bridgeman on December 15, 1962. They were the proud parents of Tom Rogers and Herman "Will" Rogers, Jr.
Herman retired for Chrysler in 1996 after twenty-eight years of dedicated service. Herman served the Lord for his entire life and for fifty-five years he pastored in Cuba, four years in Potosi, then Rolla, St. James, Sullivan, and Newburg. Herman continued preaching funerals until 2009. He was a member of the Evangelical Holiness Church of Cuba and the Bible Way.
In his spare time, Herman enjoyed fishing, spoiling his cats Tornado and Twister and his dog Tyler. What Herman truly loved most in life was serving the Lord and spending time with family and friends.
Herman was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, great uncle, brother-in-law, pastor and friend of everyone. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved hm.
He is preceded in death by his parents Lee and Gustie Rogers, one son Will Rogers, grandson Jesse Rogers, siblings; Virginia and husband Melvin Vaughn, Joe and wife Jean Rogers, Marvin H. and wife Leona Rogers, Buddy Rogers, two still born brothers, two still born sisters, sister-in-law Grace Rogers, brother-in-law James Reeves and other family and friends.
Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife Etta Mae Rogers, one son Tom Rogers and companion Anita Mansfield of Cuba, daughter-in-law Steffanie Rogers of Steelville, five grandchildren; Jeremiah Rogers of Steelville, Tabitha Rogers of Steelville, Danny Rogers of Cuba, TJ Rogers of Cuba and Missy Rogers of Summersville, three great grandchildren; Trustin Richards, Zoey Szyhowski and Mackenzie Rogers, siblings; Jimmy and wife Alice Rogers of Sullivan, Robert Lee and wife Judy Rogers of Phoenix, Arizona, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Norene Rogers of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Albert and wife Dora Bridgeman, Harold Bridgeman, Joe and wife Dorothy Bridgeman, Della Reeves, Louise and husband Claud Smith, Gladene Ware and Geraldine and husband Tom Lawrence all of Cuba, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 29, 2019 from 5:00 till 8:00 p.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba.
Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2019 at the Mizell Funeral Home with Bro. Don Mitchell officiating. Special recorded music will be "Where Roses Never Fade", "Precious Memories" and "Go Rest High on that Mountain."
Interment, prayers and full military honors will follow at the Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Evangelical Holiness Church, 403 Hwy PP, Cuba, Missouri 65453 in Herman's memory.
