Rev. Edgar Freeman Gibson of Pacific, Missouri was born January 6, 1922 at Potosi, Missouri to the union of James Harrison and Eula Faye (Nee: Johnson) Gibson and went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 14, 2011 at Ellisville, Missouri at the age of 89 years 7 months and 8 days. Edgar was united in marriage to Dolorece M. Britton on March 29, 1942 at Belgrade, Missouri and to this union four children were born Phyllis, Kenneth, Wayne and Judith. Edgar or know to some as Freeman spent his adult life preaching the word of the Lord. He was the Pastor at Zion Baptist Church in South County for 27 years and helped build Zion Church. He was the editor, printer and publisher of the Galilean Witness for many years, the editor of the Missouri Missionary Baptist Paper for 11 years and he served as the Missouri Missionary Baptist Association Church Planter. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and tending to his fruit trees. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing and hunting. Edgar was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, great uncle, cousin, brother-in-law, faithful servant of the Lord and friend to all he met. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents James and Eula Gibson, one son Kenneth Gibson, one brother Cletis Homer Gibson, son-in-law Dave Fulmer, brother-in-laws George Richeson, Louie Asher, Harry Darest, Alfred Britton, sister-in-law Beulah and husband Charlie Akers and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife Dolorece M. Gibson (nee: Britton) of Pacific, Missouri; three children Phyllis K. Fulmer of Benton, Arkansas, Wayne L. and wife Marsha Gibson of Lenexa, Kansas and Judith A. and husband Dr. Charles Curtman of Pacific, Missouri, daughter-in-law Donna Gibson of O'Fallon, Illinois, two sisters Mary Belle Richeson of Potosi, Missouri and Wilma Jean Asher of Jacksonville, Texas, two brothers Harry and wife Sue Gibson of Frederick, Colorado and Charles "Dennis" and wife Reba Gibson of Brandon, Mississippi, sister-in-laws Johnnie Gibson of Potosi, Marie Darest of Jacksonville, Texas, Opal and husband Joe Wilkerson of Potosi, Erma and husband Dr. Jack Holley of O'Fallon, Missouri and Barbara Walls of Potosi, two-brother-in-laws John T. and wife Ava Britton and Don and wife Madeline Britton all of Cuba, seven grandson, eight granddaughters, thirty five great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friend of many. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2011 from 5:00 till 8:00 PM at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington, Cuba, Missouri and Sunday, August 21, 2011 from 1:00 PM until funeral service at 2:00 PM at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 17617 Manchester Road, Wildwood, Missouri 63038 with Dr. Charles Curtman officiating. Interment and prayers will follow at 5:00 PM at the Redbud Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri. Honored to be serving as pall bears are Denton Fulmer, Andy Gibson, Darren Gibson, Matthew Fox, Jason Curtman, Zach Curtman and Paul Curtman. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for the continued love, care and medical expenses of Dolorece Gibson. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Gibson family.
