Raymond Lee "Ray" Durbin of Cuba, Missouri was born on November 17, 1934 in St. Louis, Missouri and left from this life on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at his home at the age of 77. Ray was the owner/operator of Durbin Construction Company for many years. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War as an airplane mechanic. A member of the NRA, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, reading western novels and was a jack of all trades. Ray is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Alma (Bauer) Durbin. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his wife of fifty-five years Sylvia Durbin; three children Gary and wife Chris Durbin of Cuba, Missouri, Michael and wife Dotti Durbin of Kirkwood, Missouri, Rebecca and husband Bud Renken of O'Fallon, Missouri; three grandchildren Rachel Durbin of Cuba, Missouri, Lindsay Durbin and fiance Charles Mullenger of Seattle, Washington, Nick Durbin of Kirkwood, Missouri; sister-in-law Carol Holland of St. Peters, Missouri; cousin Rosalind Nilges of Bland, Missouri; other brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many friends. Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the American Cancer Society. The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Durbin family.
