Raymond Donald Vance of Steelville, Missouri was born Friday, July 14, 1933 at Steelville, Missouri to the union of Jewell and Iona (nee: Starks) Vance and left from this life on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 76 years 11 months and 18 days. Ray proudly served in the United States Navy from September 1952 till September 1958. Ray was married to Joyce A. Dollman on November 21, 1975 at Union, Illinois and to this union one daughter was born Jill. Ray retired from Union Special in Illinois after 21 years of dedicated service. He also had worked for Arnold Engineering in Marengo, IL before retiring to Steelville. Ray or known by some as é¢ééDonnieé¢éé owned Rayé¢éés Sharpening Service in Steelville for the last eight years and he was a member of Rivers of Life Fellowship Church for the last 10 years. In his spare time he enjoyed raising vegetables and flowers, fishing and spending time with family and friends. Ray was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents Jewell and Iona Vance, sister Ilene Pasternacki and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy is his loving wife Joyce A. Vance of the home, children Jeffrey and Dennis Vance both of Illinois and Timothy Vance of Wisconsin, Penny Lynn Loefel of Poplar Grove, Illinois, Jenny Lou Vance of Texas and Jill and husband Andy Slown of Freeport, Illinois, grandchildren, brothers Edgar Vance of Ten Mile, Tennessee and Melvin Vance of Poplar Grove, Illinois, brother-in-law Frank Pasternacki of Steelville, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Monday, July 5, 2010 from 4 till 8 P.M. at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba. Funeral service will be held 11 A.M. Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at the Rivers of Life Fellowship Church, 470 Grand Drive, Steelville, with Pastor Henry Copling officiating. Special music will be é¢ééThe Great Speckled Birdé¢éé and é¢ééLife is like a Mt. Railroadé¢éé. Honored to be serving as casket bearers is Bill Coffman, Lester Vance, Frank Pasternacki, Randy Ransom, Steve Neumann and Tom Lott. Memorial contributions may be made to the Indian Mission in Rayé¢éés memory. Interment and prayers will follow at the Liberty Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri. The Britton Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Vance family.
