Phyllis Ann Lancaster, age 75 of Joplin, Missouri, formerly of Cuba, Missouri, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Mercy Hospital, Joplin. Phyllis was born Monday, August 9, 1943 at Ashley, Illinois to the union of John and Gladys (Nee: Reynolds) Chandler. Phyllis was united in marriage to Charles Lavern Lancaster on December 31, 1962 in Overland, Missouri. They were the proud parents of Duane, John, Scheryl, Charles Jr. and Leroy. Phyllis retired in 2012 after thirty-five years of driving a school bus for Special Needs Children in St. Clair, Union and Washington School Districts. She loved spoiling all the children on her bus. Phyllis enjoyed reading, bowling, fishing, farming, putting together picture albums and doing crafts. Her crafts were made for many family members and friends. Phyllis was known for her baking, especially her Christmas cookies, black bottom cupcakes, gooey butter cake, oatmeal cake and her easy cobbler, which was her mother-in-law's recipe. What she truly treasured most in life was spending time with her family and friends. Phyllis was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt and friend of many. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents John and Gladys Chandler, husband Charles Lavern Lancaster, two sisters; Arlette Chandler, Joyce and husband Gus Compton, two brothers; Bill Chandler and Lloyd Chandler and other family and friends. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her loving children; Duane Lancaster and Sherry Dean of Bourbon, Missouri, John (Cheryl) Lancaster of Willard, Missouri, Scheryl (Robert) Barringer of Joplin, Missouri, Charles, Jr. (Christy) Lancaster of Owensville, Missouri and Leroy (Teresa) Lancaster of St. Clair, Missouri, eleven grandchildren; Jonathon, Justin, Amber, Brittany, Kelsey and husband James, Jordan and husband David, Austin, Taylor, Christopher and wife Brooke, Emilie, Sarah, great grandchildren; Maddalyn, Owen, Evelyn, Levi, Blaine, Grayson and Kacie, one brother Ron (Fran) Chandler of Bridgeton, Missouri, sisters-in-law Joyce Ann Chandler of O'Fallon, Missouri, Dwan Chandler of Springdale, Arkansas, Frances (Duard) Brown of Ozark, Missouri, brother-in-law Leroy Lancaster of Ozark, Missouri, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Memorial visitation will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. till 1:30 p.m. at the Living Word Church, 19 Steuber Road, Leasburg, Missouri. Memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Living Word Church, 19 Steuber Road, Leasburg with Pastor Dan Morrison officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Living Word Church in Phyllis's memory. The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Lancaster family.
