Paul Oliver Crombie of Sullivan, Missouri formerly of Cuba was born Monday, June 19, 1922 at Kimmswick, Missouri to the union of William and Olga (nee: Kreid) Crombie and left from this life on Sunday, April 4, 2010 at Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 87 years 9 months and 15 days. Paul retired in 1984 after many years of dedicated service as a welder for Laclede Gas Company in St. Louis. Before moving to Cuba Paul lived for many years at Fenton, Missouri. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church of Cuba, the Cuba Knights of Columbus and in his spare time he enjoyed fishing and reading. Paul was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, step father, step grandfather, step great-grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Paul is preceded in death by his parents William and Olga Crombie, first wife Frances R. Crombie, brothers Clifford and Charles Leonard Crombie, sister Anita Weldele and other relatives and friends. Those who left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy is his loving wife Helen Crombie of the home, two sons Mark and wife Katharina Crombie of St. Louis and Paul and wife Rita Crombie of Marthasville, two step son Carl W. Brown and John S. Dahlke, six grandchildren Jason, Matthew, Melissa, Ethan, Kathryn and Grant Crombie, three step grandchildren Jana Bunton, Jacob Rice and Jacquline Brown, two step great-grandchildren Alyson and Ronnie Bunton, brother-in-law Jim and wife Irene Ruble of Sullivan, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 8, 2010 from 5:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba. Funeral mass will be celebrated 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 9, 2010 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church of Cuba with Father James Finder as celebrant. Interment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri with full military honors at 1:00 P.M. Friday, April 9, 2010. In lieu of flowers the family request masses. The Britton Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Crombie family.
