Pastor Nolan Hugh Stogsdill of St. Clair and formerly of Bourbon, Missouri was born on November 30, 1934 at Couch, Missouri to the union of Wellie and Mae (Rice) Stogsdill. He was called home to be with The Lord on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at St. Clair Nursing Center, St. Clair, Missouri at the age of 83 years. Hugh was united in marriage to Eunice Simpson on May 31, 1952 in Mammoth Springs, Arkansas and to this union four children were born Larry, Hulene, Terry and Sheila. Hugh retired from General Motors in 1992, after 30 years of dedicated service. He was ordained to preach The Gospel in 1963 and over the years he served as the Pastor of Meramec Heights Free Will Baptist Church in Valley Park, O'Fallon Free Will Baptist Church, Gray Summit Free Will Baptist Church and Bourbon Free Will Baptist Church. Hugh was a member of Christ Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and he enjoyed wood crafting, fishing and watching wrestling. He was a Godly man with a kind heart and was always helping others, in their time of need. He was a loving son, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, pastor and friend. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Hugh is preceded in death by his parents Wellie and Mae (Rice) Stogsdill; two brothers Kenneth and Harold Stogsdill; one sister Fern Freeman. Those who left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife of sixty-six years Eunice Stogsdill (nee: Simpson) of Sullivan; four children Larry and wife Brenda Stogsdill of Warrenton, Hulene and husband Doug Vermillion of Davisville, Terry Stogsdill of Marthasville, Sheila and husband Donnie Irvan of Grand Rivers, Kentucky; one sister-in-law Daisy Brewer of West Plains, Missouri; eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 5-8 p.m. at Christ Chapel Free Will Baptist Church 588 Expansion Ln. St. Clair, Missouri. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 24, 2018 11:00 a.m. at Christ Chapel Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Jay Tilson and Pastor Duke West, officiating. Interment will follow at Bourbon Cemetery, Bourbon, Missouri. If desired, memorials would be appreciated to Christ Chapel Children's Church. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Stogsdill family.
