Opal W. Bell

August 4, 1920 — March 4, 2015

Opal W. Bell of Cuba, Missouri was born August 4, 1920 to the union of Edwin Henry and Clara A. (Nee: Riske) Wilmesherr and left from this life on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Cuba, Missouri at the age of 94 years. Opal was united in marriage to Wendell H. Bell on April 15, 1948 at Steelville, Missouri. They were happily married for forty seven years before Wendell passed away on June 27, 1995. Opal started her banking career as an assistant cashier and retired after thirty four years as a vice president from a local bank in Cuba, Missouri. Opal was a devout member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cuba for all of her adult life. She was the Clerk of the Sessions at church for many years. In her spare time she enjoyed reading. Every summer for years, after graduation, a group of friends would get together. They would spend hours laughing, reminding and catching up. Opal was a loving daughter, sister, wife, sister-in-law and friend of many. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Opal is preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Clara Wilmesherr, husband Wendell Bell, two brothers-in-law Kenneth Bell and Woodrow Bell, two sisters-in-law Dorothy Steele and Elaine Blair and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy is her loving sister Gerry and husband Ezra Souders of Cuba, her church family and other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the Bourbon Cemetery, Bourbon, Missouri with Pastor Pat Gruber officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Cuba in Opal's memory. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving Opal's family.
