Ocie Allen Neff of Cuba, Missouri was born on Sunday, November 17, 1918 at Goodwater, Missouri to the union of Allen L. and Della (nee: Abney) Neff and left from this life surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, November 1, 2009 at his home in Cuba, Missouri. Ocie was united in marriage to Effie Wilkinson on January 28, 1940 at the Davisville Assembly Church and to this union seven children were born Lucy, Ocie L., Gloria, Wanda, Ronnie, Keith and Sheila. Ocie was retired from Cyclone Fence Company a subsidiary of US Steel in St. Louis. He worked as a foreman installing fence, guard rails and road signs before retiring after 44 years of dedicated service. For many years the family would drive to Crawford County every Wednesday evening and Sunday, for Ocie was also a full time minister. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, hunting (especially for squirrels) and fishing. Ocie always enjoyed going to church, singing his favorite hymns and spending time with his family and friends. Ocie was a loving son, brother, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Ocie is preceded in death by his parents Allen Neff and Della Neff, one son Ocie L. Neff, son-in-law Willard Worley, three sisters Ruth, Dorothy and Adeline, four brothers Logan, Dude, Rainey and Woodrow and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy is his loving wife of nearly 70 years Effie Neff of the home, six children Lucy and husband John Bates of Cuba, Gloria Worley of Cuba, Wanda Hardin of Sullivan, Ronnie and wife Debbie Neff of St. Louis, Keith and wife Brenda Neff of Cuba and Sheila and husband Darrell Blankenship of Bourbon, daughter-in-law Carol Neff of St. Louis, twenty grandchildren, forty two great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 4, 2009 from 5 till 8 PM at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba. Funeral service will be held 11 AM Thursday, November 5, 2009 at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba with Pastor Don Lowery officiating. Special music for the service will be é¢ééNever Grow Oldé¢éé sang by Sheila Blankenship and é¢ééIé¢ééll Meet You in the Morningé¢éé and é¢ééSweet By and Byé¢éé sang and played by Dave Callahan. Honored to be serving as pall bears was Greg Neff, Ronnie Neff, Brian Harden, Doug Neff, Danny Ackers and Gary Bates. Interment will follow at the Martin Cemetery, Cherryville, Missouri. The Britton Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Neff family.
