Milton L. Morris of Cuba-Indian Hills, Missouri was born Thursday, June 4, 1936 at East St. Louis, Illinois to the union of Milton Leroy and Mildred (nee: Enfield) Morris and left from this life on Friday, October 21, 2011 at his home in Indian Hills at the age of 75 years. Milton was united in marriage to Jean "Mary Lou" Kricensky on July 21, 1962 at Belleville, Illinois. He was the proud father of three children Michelle, Michael and Theresa. Milton proudly served in the United States Army from 2 September 1959 till 24 August 1961 and then served in the Army Reserves until 31 August 1965. After the service he joined the Local Labor Union #459 in Illinois and in the late 1960's he went to work in the gas department for Illinois Power Company of Belleville where he retired from in 1992 after 25+ years of dedicated service. Milton was the Past Exalted Ruler of Fairview Heights Lodge #664, lifetime member of the Cuba VFW Post 7147, former member of the Shrine and the Moose Lodge. He graduated from Belleville Township High School West in 1953, where he was the pitcher for the baseball team and after graduation Milton pitched for the Cory League in Fairview Heights, Illinois. Being such an excellent pitcher and avid baseball fan Milton tried out for the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Team one year during spring training. Milton was a natural artist; he could sketch anyone or anything. He did etchings on mirrors and granite which can be found in many buildings from Missouri to Illinois. Milton spent many hours enjoying the outdoors, boating on the lake at Indian Hills, bar-b-que with family and friends and his biggest buddy "Casey" the golden retriever. His famous saying was "If you can't have fun, get off the boat". Milton was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Milton is preceded in death by his parents Mildred and Milton L. Morris, Sr., three brothers Edward, Russell and Johnny Bowman and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife of 49 years Jean "Mary Lou" Morris of the home, children Michelle and husband Dean Garber of Cuba, Michael Morris of Fairview Heights, Illinois and Theresa Boyd of Glen Carbon, Illinois, four grandchildren Alex and Chase Garber of Cuba, Megan Morris of Fairview Heights, Illinois and David Boyd of Glen Carbon, Illinois, sister Mary Williams of Belleville, Illinois, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 25, 2011at the Cuba VFW Post 7147, 704 E Washington, Cuba, Missouri with a luncheon and storytelling to follow. A second memorial gathering will be Thursday, October 27, 2011 from 11:00 A.M. till 5:00 P.M. with an 11:30 A.M. Elk's Service at the Fairview Heights Elks Lodge, 9480 Old Lincoln Trail, Fairview Heights, Illinois 62208. Inurnment will be at the Valhalla Cemetery, Belleville, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cuba VFW Post 7147, 704 E. Washington, Cuba, Missouri 65453 or the Fairview Heights Elks Lodge, PO Box 4035 Fairview Heights, Illinois 62208, in Milton's memory.
