Mary Imogene Voigt of Cuba, Missouri was born January 28, 1927 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Jae "JR" and Velma (Nee: Chapin) Hoover and went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at her home in Cuba at the age of 90 years. Mary was united in marriage to Albert E. "Bud" Voigt on October 20, 1951 and they were the proud parents of Michael and Carol. Mary was a registered nurse for fifty plus years when she retired. She started her working her nursing career in a hospital in California. She also worked at hospitals in Michigan and Florida. She was the OB Nurse for the Sullivan Hospital for many years and retired from the Meramec Nursing Center in Sullivan. Mary was a devout member to the First Baptist Church of Cuba for many years and in her spare time she enjoyed latch hook, crossword puzzles, sewing and colleting Precious Moments. In her younger years Mary was an excellent bowler. What Mary loved most in life was spending time with her friends and spoiling her family. Mary was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt, great-great aunt and friend of many. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her parent JR and Velma Hoover, husband Bud Voigt, son Mike Voigt, two sisters Betty and Frances, two brothers George and Bob Hoover, son-in-law Lee Rowe, brothers-in-law Joe Ribaudo and Clarence Voigt, sister-in-law Irma and other family and friends. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her loving daughter Carol Rowe of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, five grandchildren; Dawn and husband Carl Bantel of Cuba, Jeremiah Burch, Shirley and husband David Bedford of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Christopher and wife Melissa Voigt of Doolittle, Missouri and Jessica and husband Michael Bilynsky of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, eight great grandchildren; Shawn, Timothy, Willie, Serenity, Chelsea, Kirsten, Payton, Maddie and Conner, two great-great grandchildren Aurora and Harley, one sister-in-law Betty Ribaudo of Fenton, Missouri, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 5:00 till 8:00 PM at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM Friday, March 17, 2017 at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba with Pastor Gary Mace officiating. Special recorded music will be "The Old Rugged Cross", "Amazing Grace" and "In the Garden". Interment and prayers will follow at the Fort Leonard Wood State Veterans Cemetery, 25350 Hwy H, Waynesville, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Mary's family. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving Mary's family.
