Mary Edith Skaggs formerly of Bourbon, Missouri was born on February 22, 1920, the oldest child of Columbus B. and Rue F. (nee: Johnson) Pratt and left from this life on Monday, September 5, 2011 at Rolla, Missouri at the age of 91 years. Edith was united in marriage to Chester Skaggs on June 25, 1938 in Farmington, Missouri and one son Danny blessed their marriage. Edith became a Christian on October 15, 1950 and was a faithful member of the First Assembly of God Church in Bourbon, Missouri for nearly 61 years. She was devoted to the Lord and had many jobs helping the church until her health didn't allow her to do the things she loved. In her spare time she enjoyed doing crafts, reading, cooking and after retirement Edith and Chester traveled the country in their RV. For many years Edith was the "Avon Lady" in the Bourbon and surrounding areas. But what she enjoyed most was spending time with family and friends. Edith was a loving sister, sister-in-law, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents Columbus and Rue Pratt, husband Chester Skaggs, one infant sister Nadine Pratt, three brothers Carl, Roy and James Pratt, special daughter Ruth Ann Hoerath, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her loving son Danny and wife Sheree Skaggs of Bourbon, one brother Floyd and wife Dorothy Pratt of St. Clair, Missouri, four special grandchildren Meghenn Bax and Mitchell Bax both of St. Peters, Missouri, Stacie Garcia of Texas and Tracie Ware of Bourbon, Missouri, eight great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 8, 2011 from 5:00 till 8:00 PM at the First Assembly of God Church, 2416 Old Hwy 66, Bourbon, Missouri. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, September 9, 2011 at the First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Harrison officiating. Family and friends will be honored to serve as pall bears. Interment and prayers will follow at the Bourbon Cemetery, Bourbon, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Assembly of God Church in Edith's memory.
