Marvin R. Summers was born to the union of William and Elizabeth (Dace) Summers on August 21, 1921 in Shirley, Missouri and left from this life on October 30, 2012 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the age of 91. Marvin was a Political Science Professor at UW-Milwaukee from 1954 to 1988. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946. Preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (nee Baugher); his parents, William and Elizabeth (nee Dace) Summers; his brother, Dale Winston (the late Edna) Summers; and his dear friend, Estella "Tuttie" Pedersen. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his son Gregory and wife Ellen Summers of Fishers, Indiana; two grandchildren, Allison and Duncan Summers; seven nephews, other relatives and friends. A memorial visitation to celebrate Marvin's life will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2013 from 3:00 PM until time of memorial service at 4:30 PM at Mizell Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Dace, officiating. Private burial will take place at Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Milwaukee Art Museum Development Department, In Memory of Marvin Summers, 700 N. Museum Drive, Milwaukee, WI 53202.
