Marie M. Maerli

Marie M. Maerli of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of Hans and Katherine (Feith) Burger on April 16, 1917 in St. Louis, Missouri and left from this life on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Cuba Manor at the age of 98. Marie was united in marriage to Nicholas Maerli on June 20, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri and to the union five children were born James, William, Paul, Veronica and Mary. Marie retired from Brown Shoe Company as an Inventory Clerk. She was a longtime parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church, where she was active with the Ladies Altar Society. She enjoyed being a volunteer with Crawford County 4-H Extension, quilting and cooking. Marie is preceded in death by her parents; husband Nicholas Maerli; one son James Maerli, one infant daughter Mary Maerli; two sisters Elizabeth Booth, A. Catherine Baker; one brother John J. Burger. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her two sons William "Bill" Maerli of Cuba, Missouri, Paul and wife Pat Maerli of Cuba, Missouri; one daughter Veronica and husband Bernard Vollmer of Sunrise Beach, Missouri; one daughter-in-law Pat Maerli of St. Louis, Missouri; six grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 from 10:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church 415 W. School Ave. Cuba, Missouri. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Rich Boever as the celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. If desired, memorials would be appreciated to Holy Cross Altar Society or Children's Miracle Network Hospitals P.O. Box 8812 Springfield, Missouri 65801. The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Maerli family.
