Marie Helen Higgins

Marie Helen Higgins of Steelville, Missouri formerly of Cuba was born May 15, 1921 at Chamois, Missouri to the union of John S. and Bessie Nichols and left from this life on Monday, November 15, 2010 at Gibbs Care Center, Steelville, Missouri at the age of 89 years and 6 months. Marie was united in marriage to E. Vernon Higgins on April 4, 1942 at Leasburg, Missouri and to this union one daughter was born Patsy. Marie had been a member of Faith Assembly of God Church in Sullivan for the last 31 years where she served as part of the Ladies Ministries, the Ladies Quilters which met every Tuesday and she could always be found in the church kitchen helping prepare the meals. She enjoyed sewing and embroidering, but what she loved most was spending time with her family and friends. Marie was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Marie is preceded in death by her parents John and Bessie Nichols, husband E. Vernon Higgins, one brother Clarence Nichols, one sister Evelyn Turner, brother-in-laws, sister-in-law and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy is her loving daughter Patsy and husband Henry Copling of Cuba, sister-in-laws Imogene Nichols of Sullivan, Deloris Hoover of Sullivan, Jean Higgins of Ellisville and Betty Higgins of Cape Girardeau, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 18, 2010 from 5 till 8 PM at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba. Funeral service will be held at 10 AM Friday, November 19, 2010 at the Faith Assembly of God Church, 310 E. Springfield, Sullivan, Missouri. Interment and prayers will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Gibbs Care Center Residential Fund in Marie郢邀邙s memory.
