Marian Namiko Munekata

August 3, 1921 — March 16, 2013

Marian Namiko Munekata of Cuba, Missouri formerly of Bel Air, Maryland was born August 3, 1921 in Paiea Maui, Hawaii and left from this life on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Cuba Manor in Cuba, Missouri at the age of 91. Marian retired after over four decades of dedicated service as a secretary first at the City and County of Honolulu Planning Office, as a secretary at RM Towel Engineering and finally as an Administrative Assistant for Victoria Ward, Ltd. in Hawaii until 1989. She accepted her son's invitation and moved to Bel Air, Maryland in 1992 to be close to him and his family, so she could help take care of and spoil her grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, gardening, flower arranging and sewing. She lived with her son Jeffrey for 20 years and in March 2012 accepted Mrs. Delores Stauffer's invitation to reside at the Victorian Manor Retirement Home adjacent to Dee's home in Cuba, MO. There, Mrs. Stauffer often visited with and entertained Marian, and frequented her favorite lunch spots. Marian is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers Satoshi, Michio and wife Betsy, Yoshio and Takeshi and wife Oma Munekata. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her loving son Jeff Munekata, employed as an Architect by HQ Dept of Energy and wife Dr. Carol Stauffer-Munekata, Boarded Family Practice Physician with Express Care Bel Air; two wonderful grandchildren David Galen (20 years old) and Elisabeth Dolores Stauffer-Munekata (15 Years old) all of Bel Air, Maryland; her dear friend Dolores Stauffer of Cuba, Missouri; her dear friend Maxyne Rogers and family, son Lloyd and daughter in law, Pastor Nan Suk Rogers of Kaneohe, Hawaii, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends. As per her request, she will be cremated. Memorial Service will be held at Immanuel Christian Church 45-416 Kamehameha Hwy. Kaneohe, Hawaii on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at 1pm. Inurnment at Hawaii Memorial Park Cemetery 45-425 Kamehameha Hwy. Kaneohe, Hawaii will follow as arrangements are finalized. The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Munekata family.
