Mae L. Thorpe

Mae L. Thorpe of Indian Hills in Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of Austin and Millie (Gargus) Russell on March 14, 1940 in Steelville, Missouri and left from this life on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 71. Mae was united in marriage to Ralph E. Thorpe on October 15, 1955 in Bourbon, Missouri and to this union five children were born Lonny, Jerry, Tina, Suzanne and Lynn. Mae was a homemaker and was known as a great cook, she enjoyed watching the "Young and the Restless" and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Mae is preceded in death by her parents Austin and Millie (Gargus) Russell; one brother Jim Russell. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her husband Ralph E. Thorpe of the home; five children Lonny and wife Lisa Thorpe of Old Monroe, Missouri, Jerry and wife Judy Thorpe of Jonesburg, Missouri, Tina and husband Tracy Dykema of Batesville, Arkansas, Suzanne and husband Eugene Mikus of Bellflower, Missouri, Lynn and husband Steve Walker of Wright City, Missouri; four sisters Joan Waller of St. Petersburg, Florida, Opal Swedeen of St. Clair, Missouri, Sharon Brown of Searcy, Arkansas, Barbara Cave of Sheridan, Arkansas; two brothers Albert Aaron of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri and Roy Missey of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. until time of service 3:00 p.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri. Cremation will follow the services. If desired, memorials would be appreciated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure P.O. Box 650309 Dallas, Texas 75265 or the American Heart Association. The Mizell Funeral Home is Honored to be serving the Thorpe family.
