Lydia C. (Reiner) Sampson

Lydia Christine Sampson, of Leasburg, Missouri, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2024, at the age of 73. She was born on July 26, 1951, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Robert and Georgia Ann (Watson) Reiner.

Lydia married her devoted husband, Donald W. Sampson, on May 3, 1969, in Leasburg, where they began their life together and welcomed two sons, Donald W. Sampson, Jr. and Douglas M. Sampson. Lydia's family was her pride and joy, and she dedicated her life to nurturing them.

Professionally, Lydia served as a phlebotomist at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan for several years. Later she worked at Skippy’s in Leasburg. Outside of her professional endeavors, she found joy in cooking, exploring antique and thrift stores, and visiting flea markets. Lydia had a special love for her pets, pampering and spoiling her four dogs—Trinity, Hope, Mollie Brown, and Honey—and her beloved cats—Brother, Lucket, Raven, and Onyx.

Lydia is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers-in-law Fred Palmer, Kenneth Cox, George W. Sampson, and Gary L. Sampson.

She will be deeply missed by those who survive her, including her loving husband of fifty-five years, Donald W. Sampson, Sr.; her two sons, Donald W. Sampson, Jr. and his wife Francine (DeNisco) of Bourbon, and Douglas Sampson of Leasburg; eight cherished grandchildren—Christopher Sampson, Anna Marie Adams, Anthony Sampson, Kendra Rall, Christopher Rall, Destiny Hammock, Pepper Hammock and Sebastian Hammock; and three great-grandchildren—Michael Rall, Mallory Rall, and Brian Adams. Lydia is also survived by her three sisters: Linda Palmer of Leasburg, Janet and her husband Robert Bouse of Leasburg, and Kurt and his wife Tammy Reiner of Rockport, Texas; her sister-in-law Joyce (Sampson) Cox of Bourbon; her brother-in-law Daniel Sampson of Texas; along with cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
