Lillian Ellen McCann of Cuba, Missouri was born Saturday, December 13, 1947 at Sullivan, Missouri to the union of William H. "Budge" and Winifred Ann (nee: Moody) Gunn and left from this life, surrounded by family, on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at her home in Cuba at the age of 68 years. Lil was the oldest of nine children. She attended school in Cuba and in her very young years she went to the Catholic Church with one grandma on Saturday evenings and the Methodist Church with her other grandma on Sunday mornings. Lil's nickname growing up and on into adulthood was "Ding". During her working career she worked at Convey Shoe, Voss Truck Port, San Val and the Cuba Thrift Store, but her main job was taking care of her home and children. Lil was united in marriage on August 10, 1974 to Hoyt E. McCann, Jr. at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Cuba. She was the proud mom of Janice, Bill, Hoyt III and Beau. Lil bowled on a league for years, spent hours crocheting, crafting and quilting. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. She enjoyed going to auctions, thrift stores, flea markets and to the boat. She played cards at the Cuba Senior Center nearly every week and you didn't call if "Blue Bloods" or the "Voice" was on TV. She loved road trips, family reunions, raising plants, gardening and mowing grass. Lil was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt, cousin, best friend and friend of many. She will be forever remembered and truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Lil is preceded in death by her parents Budge and Winifred Gunn and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her loving husband Hoyt McCann, Jr. of the home, four children Janice Brummet of Cuba, Bill and wife Twila Taber of Berryville, Arkansas, Hoyt E. McCann, III and fiancé Terry of Cuba and Beau and wife Dessa McCann of Springfield, Missouri, six grandchildren Dani and husband Jeremy Schultz of Springfield, Missouri, Chelsea Taber of St. Louis, Jordan Brummet of Cuba, Winter Parker of Cuba, Carter McCann and Brody McCann both of Springfield, Missouri, eight brothers and sisters Bill and wife Linda Gunn of Cuba, Robert "Bobby" Gunn and wife Sheila Walker of Warr Acres, Oklahoma, Margaret and husband Glenn Rousset of Fenton, Missouri, Raymond "Buddy" and wife Lynn Gunn of Rolla, Mary Gunn of Wagoner, Oklahoma, Catherine and husband Rich Goyette of Knoxville, Tennessee, Christine and husband Gary Durbin of Cuba and Winnie and husband Bob Fleming of Rolla, sisters-in-law Pat and husband Roy Watson of Japan, Missouri, Sue and husband Gail Papen, Kay Vann and Phyllis Jean Marler all of Rolla, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends. A memorial visitation will be held Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 2:00 till 4:00 pm at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba, Missouri. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday, October 23, 2016 at the Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cuba Senior Center in Lil's memory. In keeping with Lil's wishes she was cremated. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving Lil's family.
