Leroy Jay Mcpherson

Leroy Jay McPherson of Cuba, Missouri was born on Saturday, April 4, 1959, in Cuba, Missouri to the union of Lee and Mary Ann (Menz) McPherson, Jr. He left from this life on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 62.

Leroy liked people and spent many pleasant hours keeping the residents and nurses’ company on the west side at Cuba Manor. He hit it off with babies and children and enjoyed being near to hear them and to watch them play. Leroy also had a great love of nature and took pleasure in quiet drives through the countryside or gazing out the window watching for deer and other wildlife. As with any “kid at heart” he especially loved Hershey Kisses, Christmas, and his Birthday. He loved unwrapping all the gifts that family and friends gave him and then stowing away all his treasures!

Leroy is preceded in death by his father Lee McPherson, Jr.; one sister Debbie Lewis.

Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his mother Mary Ann (Menz) McPherson of Cuba; three brothers Tom and wife Connie McPherson of Cuba, John and wife Michelle McPherson of Rosebud, Sherman McPherson of Cuba; four sisters Sharon Harvey of Wildwood, Bonnie and husband John Hoy Owensville, Julie McPherson and husband Rick Hendricks of St. Joseph, Nancy Brooks of Cuba; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022, from 5-7 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Mace, officiating.

Interment will follow at Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
