Leona B. Dollard

Leona B. Dollard of Cuba, Missouri was born Saturday, August 3, 1918 at Wittenberg, Missouri to the union of Fred and Lidia (nee: Versamann) Bodenschatz and left from this life on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the Life Care Center, Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 98 years. Leona was the oldest child of seven growing up on a farm. Not only did she help on the farm she also helped raise her little brothers and sisters, but the age of 18 she moved from the farm to St. Louis to find a job. Leona was united in marriage to Kenneth L. Dollard on November 14, 1942 at St. Louis, Missouri. They were the proud parents of two sons Robert and Kenneth. Leona spent her life taking care of her family and home. She loved being outside, working in her garden and she grew the most beautiful flowers in the neighborhood. Leona was an excellent cook and an amazing baker. Leona was a devoted and lifetime member of the Lutheran faith. She attended church faithfully until her health began to decline several years ago. What Leona loved most in life was spending time with her family and friends. Leona was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt, great-great aunt and friend of many. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Leona is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Lidia Bodenschatz, husband Kenneth L. Dollard, four brothers Fred, Jr., Robert, Raymond and Edward Bodenschatz and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her loving sons Robert William Dollard of Steelville, Missouri and Kenneth Wayne and wife Linda Dollard of St. Louis, two sisters Viola Aronsson of Foristell, Missouri and Cordelia Darcy of Gerald, Missouri, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. A chapel service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Hwy A, Washington, Missouri. Interment and prayer will follow at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Washington, Missouri. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Dollard family.
