Kenneth L. "Kenney" York

Kenneth "Kenney" L. York of Cuba, Missouri was born on Friday, September 22, 1944 in Pittsburg, Kansas to the union of W.L. and Henrietta (Chancellor) York, Jr.
On Sunday, April 25, 2021, following a sudden illness, he passed away surrounded by family at the Harry S. Truman V.A. Hospital in Columbia, Missouri at the age of 76.

Throughout his life, Kenney spent time working with his father on the family farm in Columbus, Kansas. He also had a long and successful corporate career which began as an engineer at McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis, Missouri. He retired as a Global Resource Manager at Dana Brake Parts Manufacturing Company, where he spent the latter part of his career traveling to China and India. The last few years, he has enjoyed making a home with wife, Lois (Macchi) Hummert-York in rural Cuba, Missouri.

Kenney honorably served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army. He was a member of Prudence Lodge #100 A.F. & A.M. Columbus, Kansas, Mirza Temple Pittsburg, Kansas, and the C.K. Clowns of Columbus, Kansas. He was Past Commander of the Keith Reeves Post #3 A.L. and a member of Cuba Memorial Post #522 A.L.

In Kenney's spare time he enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling, collecting guns, hunting, metal detecting and woodworking.

Kenney is preceded in death by his father W.L. York, Jr.; two daughters, Julie Edwards and Marjorie Norris; one brother-in-law Keith Westervelt.

Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife Lois of Cuba; children Janet (D.G.) Ellison of Columbus, Kansas, Jacque (Stephen) Litle of Harrisonville, Curt Reynolds of Cuba, Renee (Terry) Sellers of Cuba, Gregg Hummert (Lauren Swearingen) of St. Louis, Melissa (Stefan) Lonzo-Green of Rochester, Minnesota, Donna (David) Benedict of Scammon, Kansas; mother Henrietta (Chancellor) York of Joplin; three sisters Bobbie Westervelt of Cherokee, Kansas, Connie (Jack) Taft of Webb City, Pamela Evitts of Lamar; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and countless friends and "bonus" children.

Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 3-5 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri.

Masonic Service will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 5:00 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home and conducted by Cuba Lodge #312 A.F. & A.M.

In honor of his years in the United States Army, full military honors will conclude the afternoon of celebrating Kenney's life.

If desired, memorials would be appreciated to the Shriners Hospital for Children or Gateway 180.
