Kenneth Carl Thurmond

Kenneth Carl Thurmond of Cuba, Missouri was born April 22, 1923 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of August Thurmond and Clarabel (Nee: Creason) Thurmond and left from this life on Thursday, January 18, 2007 at Sullivan, Missouri the age of 83 years 8 months and 26 days. Kenny was an owner and operator of heavy equipment for over 45 years. He dug many basements, removed alot of tree stumps, pushed snow out of peoples driveways and leveled many pieces of ground for a new building to be built on. For the past many years Kenny has been the lawn mower, weed eater, small engine repair man for all of Crawford County and surrounding areas. He could fix and repair anything with a motor. He attended the Elayer Pentecostal Church of Steelville. Kenny was united in marriage to Erma B. Happle on September 9, 1995 at Cuba, Missouri. Kenny was a loving son, brother, husband, father, step father, step grandfather, step great grandfather, brother in law, uncle, cousin and friend of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Kenny is preceded in death by his parents August and Clarabel Thurmond, one son Kenneth Thurmond, Jr., one step daughter Bertha Tabor, one step daughter in law Shirley Eaton, one step son in law Paul Myers, two step granddaughters; Sherry Callahan and Sarah Tabor and other relatives. Kenneth is survived by his loving wife Erma of 11 years of the home in Cuba, Missouri, ten step children; Tom and his wife Linda Isaacs of Corpus Christi, Texas, Gerald and wife Suzie Eaton, Lloyd and wife Carol Eaton, David and wife Angela Eaton, Helen and husband Kenny Pyatt, Mary and husband Claude Pyatt, Maxine Myers, Glenda and husband Joe Stubblefield all of Cuba, Missouri, Johnny Eaton and Peggy and husband Junior Callahan of Steelville, Missouri, twenty one step grandchildren, thirty one step great grandchildren, one son in law Dean Tabor of St. James, Missouri, one sister Kathryn Libhart of Eureka, Missouri, nine sister in laws and brother in laws; Louis and wife Mary Happle of Cuba, Missouri, Kenneth and wife Frances Happle, Lola and husband Jack Bartle, Pearl Norris all of St. James, Missouri, Mary Lou and husband Gerald Martin of Rolla, Missouri, Pauline Adams of Joplin, Missouri, Kathryn and husband Carrol Gushwa of Drain, Oregon, Charles and wife Pat of Cottage Grove, Oregon and Norma Lee and husband Charles Russou of Carthage, Missouri and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation 2 till 8 PM Monday, January 22nd at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba. Funeral service 1 PM Tuesday, January 23rd with Bro. Reberta and Bro. Ripley officiating. Burial at Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri and serving as pall bears; Tom Isaacs III, Johnny Eaton, Gerald Eaton, Lloyd Eaton, David Eaton and Donnie Libhart.
