Karen Jane Hane

Karen Jane Hane of Rolla, Missouri, peacefully departed this life on October 4, 2024, at the age of 71 at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. She was born on December 9, 1952, in Steelville, Missouri, to Harles and Hazel (Bryant) Ives.

Karen was married to Michael Hane on December 18, 1987, in Columbia, Missouri. Although Michael passed away on December 27, 2016, their shared love remains a cherished memory for their family and friends.

As a devoted homemaker, Karen took great pride in caring for her home and family. She found joy in attending family gatherings, singing at church, and sharing her culinary skills with those she loved. Known affectionately as “Me Ma,” she touched the hearts of many through her warmth and kindness.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents, Harles and Hazel Ives; her husband, Michael Hane; her daughter, Tabatha Copeland; her sister, Harlene and brother-in-law, George Sampson; her brother-in-law, Hershel Light; and her niece, Anissa Dunham.

She leaves behind a loving family that includes her children, Darla (Larry Buettner, Jr.) of Steelville and Russell Dennis (Tanya Moentmann) of Columbia; six grandchildren: Heather (Mike Riley), Corey (Alecia Simpson), Latosha (Jalen Brown), Nick Buettner, Kayla Simpson (Dakota), and Nita Dennis; two brothers, Terry (Linda Ives) of Kansas City and Keith (Deborah Ives) of Denver, Colorado; one sister, Judy Light of Steelville; her beloved cat, Leddy; ten great-grandchildren; as well as numerous aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will treasure her memory.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Darla Buettner. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Gardens in Rolla, Missouri.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
