Juanita M. Hughes

Juanita M. Hughes of Cuba, Missouri was born Sunday, December 20, 1925 at Cuba, Missouri to the union of Wilson and Effie (nee: Monda) McIntosh and left from this life on Friday, October 16, 2009 at St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 83 years 9 months and 27 days. Juanita was united in marriage to Raymond L. Hughes on May 18, 1945 at Cole County, Missouri and to this union one daughter, Jan was born. Juanita spent her life taking care of her family and her home. She enjoyed working in her garden, knitting and puzzle books. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cuba for many years. She enjoyed being part of the 郢邀邜Lunch Bunch郢邀邝 and she was an avid 郢邀邜St. Louis Cardinal郢邀邙s郢邀邝 fan. She is preceded in death by her parents Wilson and Effie McIntosh, husband Raymond L. Hughes, brother Gene McIntosh and sister Helen Brennan and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy is her daughter Jan Shafferkoetter of Florissant, Missouri, four grandchildren Janette and husband Jared Vetter of Jerseyville, Illinois, Daniel Shafferkoetter and family of Florissant, Dana Shafferkoetter and family of St. Charles, and Dustin Shafferkoetter of Florissant, eight great grandchildren Justin, Jeremy, Joshua, Regan, Jessica, Lexie, Jordan and Alyssa, five brothers Bill McIntosh of Rolla, Dave McIntosh of Chicago, Illinois, Walter and wife Shirley McIntosh of Cuba, Jerry and wife Lorraine McIntosh of Chicago, Illinois and Dale and wife Pat McIntosh of Cuba and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Monday, October 19, 2009 at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba from 5 till 8 PM. Funeral service will be 10 AM Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba with Pastor Gary Mace officiating. Interment will follow at Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba. The Britton Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Hughes family.
