Joy Rogers of Cuba, Missouri was born Monday, January 2, 1939 at Bem, Missouri to the union of Noah Burt and Ethel (Nee: Dotson) Miller. She left from this life, surrounded by family, on Monday, March 11, 2019 at her home in Cuba at the age of 80 years. Joy was united in marriage to Chester A. Rogers on February 28, 1953 at Hernando, Mississippi and they were the proud parents of Mark and Dee Anna. Joy spent her life taking care of her family and others. She worked as a Certified Nurse's Assistant at the Nursing Home in Owensville before she became the owner and operator of Country Aire Retreat in Cuba for nine years. She had been a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Cuba and for the last few years she had been attending the Christian Life Center in Rolla with her son Mark. She enjoyed church work, mission traveling and sharing the word of the Lord. Joy and Chester traveled to Texas every winter for many years and she enjoyed traveling with her friends for two weeks every year. What Joy loved most in this life was spending time with her family and friends. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, great aunt, sister-in-law and friend to many. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Joy is preceded in death by her parents Noah and Ethel Miller, husband Chester A. Rogers, one brother Alan and wife Shirley Miller, five sisters; Gladys and husband Sylvester Nieman, Alice Ferling, Loretta and husband Dale Ellis, Iva Mae and husband Walter Westholtz, Faith and husband Joe Moore, brothers-in-law Jerry Hudson, Bill Jost and John Akers, sisters-in-law Susie Ellis and Martha and husband Cliff Wilcox and other family and friends. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her loving children Mark and wife Janeal Rogers of Cuba and Dee Anna and husband Jim Chapman of Cuba, five amazing grandchildren; Ashley and husband Tommy Schmelz of Leasburg, Alisha Chapman, of Cuba, Alexa Rogers of Springfield, Missouri, DJ and wife Kim Ward of Shawnee, Kansas, David and wife Juvie Ward of Chicago, Illinois, eight great grandchildren; Chase, Chasidy Arianna, Alexia, McKenna, Brayden, Blake, Trish, sisters-in-law; Esther Akers of Sullivan, Mary Hudson of Jefferson City, Missouri, Ruth Jost of Owensville, brothers-in-law Harold Rogers of Owensville, Larry Ellis of Belle, Jack Ferling of Owensville, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2019 from 4:00 till 7:00 p.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2019 at the Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor Eddie Jones officiating. Special music will be "When the Roll is Called Up Yonder", "How Great Thou Art" and "Just Be There". Interment and prayers will follow at the Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. Honored to serve as pall bearers are Mark Rogers, Ashley Schmelz, Alisha Chapman, Alexa Rogers Tommy Schmelz and Andy Smith.
