John William Kimmel of Cuba, Missouri was born July 24, 1954 at Del Rio, Texas to the union of Floyd Kimmel and Helen (Nee: Newman) Wright and left from this life on Sunday, January 13, 2008 at Cuba, Missouri at the age of 53 years 5 months and 6 days. John had been a cabinet maker for many years. He worked at Kirkwood Stairs in Pacific for several years and he taught the Stage Lighting and Set Design at East Central College for 6 years. John was a Captain of the 9th Sharp Shooters Confederate Unity. He spent the past 15 plus years doing Civil War Reenactments at Wilson Creek Battlefield in Springfield, Missouri and Fort Davidson Battlefield in Pilot Knob, Missouri. John was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, brother in law, uncle, cousin and friend of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. John is preceded in death by many family members and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to celebrate a life lived is his father; Floyd Kimmel of Hermann, Missouri, mother Helen and husband Harmon Wright, one son; Ian Kimmel of Columbia, one daughter; Stephanie and husband Cory Purvis of Columbia, three grandchildren; Amber Davis, Royal Purvis and Skyler Purvis, two brothers; James and wife Patti Kimmel and David and wife Rhonda Kimmel all of Pacific, Missouri, two sisters; Debbie and husband Clayton Stephan of Hermann, Missouri and Diane and husband Michael Martin of Lakeland, Florida, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Memorial visitation Sunday, January 20th from 1 till 3 PM at Britton Funeral Home of Cuba. Memorial Service 3 PM Sunday, January 20th with Pastor Don Wissmann officiating at Britton Funeral Home of Cuba. The Britton Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to serving the Kimmel family.
