John P. Stubblefield of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of the late Robert F. and Maude (Hamby) Stubblefield on January 12, 1920 at Oak Hill, Missouri and left from this life on Monday, August 24, 2009 at Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 89. John was united in marriage to Mary Alice Edwards on August 30, 1952 and together they shared 57 years of marriage. On October 6, 1946 John enlisted in the United States Army. He served in the Occupation of Japan until his Honorable Discharge on January 4, 1948. He was a member of Cuba Masonic Lodge #312 A.F. & A.M. for over 50 years and a Lifetime member of Cuba V.F.W. Post #7147. He was also a member of Cement Masons Local #527 St. Louis for over 40 years. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing shuffleboard with his friends. John is preceded in death by his parents; four sisters Alma and husband Reuben Souders, Ione and husband Walter Dorf, Dora K. and husband Dick Dickerson, Dorothy and husband Walter Lee Smith; four brothers Robert é¢ééBobé¢éé and wife Ellen, Andrew é¢ééAndyé¢éé and wife Lillian, William é¢ééBillé¢éé and wife Edna, Harvey and wife Mae Stubblefield and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to cherish his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife Mary A. Stubblefield of Cuba; two daughters Mary Lou and husband Don Uhle of Houston, Texas and Tracy and husband Bill Arsenault of Carlsbad, California; one son J.C. Stubblefield of Manhattan Beach, California; one sister Frieda and husband Chilton Workman of Cuba; six grandchildren John M. and Katie Uhle, Billy, Ryan, Zach and Riley Arsenault; eighteen nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and other relatives and friends. John was a quite, gentleman and was dearly loved by his wife, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2009 5-8 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home of Cuba with a Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral will be held on Friday, August 28, 2009 11:00 a.m. at Britton Funeral Home of Cuba with Pastor Pat Gruber, officiating. Followed by Interment at Oak Hill Cemetery. Special Music "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" was sung by his granddaughter Katie Uhle. A medley of hymns by organist Eleanor Tucker. Serving as pallbearers Bobby, Ervin and Billy Stubblefield, Rodger Dorf, John Smith, David Workman, John Uhle, Billy and Ryan Arsenault, David Workman.
