John Henry Brandenburger of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of Fred and Mary (nee: Rutz) Brandenburger on November 23, 1928 at Oak Hill, Missouri and left from this life on Saturday, December 30, 2006 at the age 78 years one month and seven days. John was united in marriage to Geraldine "Jerri" M. Summers on November 18, 1960 at Mexico, Missouri. John and Jerri worked together as owner/operator of Mark Twain Beverage Company, Inc. in Hannibal, Missouri from 1968 to 1977. From 1982 to 1988 they owned and operated the Missouri Meerschaum Corn Cob Pipes Company in Washington, Missouri. John was a 3rd Degree Mason and then became a 32nd Degree Shriner belonging to the Moolah Shrine in St. Louis, Missouri. He also enjoyed traveling, fishing, making friends, but what he loved most was being a husband, Dad, Papa John and Grandpa. John is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Mary Brandenburger, wife Jerri Brandenburger and one son Randy Hammett. Those who are left to mourn his passing, but to celebrate a wonderful life lived, is his son John and wife Evelyn Brandenburger of Lancaster, Ohio, four daughters; Karen Brandenburger of Marthasville, Missouri, Mary and husband Joe Miller of Cuba, Missouri, Jerri and husband Wes Sites of Washington, Missouri and Rhonda and husband Terry Sampson of Hannibal, Missouri, nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two brothers; Jack and wife Diane Brandenburger of Argyle, Texas and Bill and wife Pearl Brandenburger of Cuba, Missouri, one sister Joan Kespohl of Cuba, Missouri and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation Tuesday, January 2nd from 4 to 8 PM, with a 7 PM Celebration of Life Service at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba. Funeral Service 11 AM Wednesday, January 3rd with Father James Finder officiating at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba. Special music for the service; How Great Thou Art, Precious Lord Take My Hand and On Eagles Wings. Honored to be serving as pall bears are; Matt Smith, Jason Brandenburger, Ted Sampson, Jeff Cunningham, Tim Ryle, Al Callahan, Steve Conrad and Brad Kurz. Serving as honorary pall bears are Leroy McGinnis, Ronnie Hansen, Charlie Kolb, Tunney Yardley and John Patton. Burial at Oak Hill Cemetery, Oak Hill, Missouri. In lieu of flowers family request donation be made to the Brandenburger Scholarship Fund c/o of Britton Funeral Home, 904 W Washington, Cuba, MO 65453 or to the Hospice Program of Missouri Baptist Hospital of Sullivan in John's memory.
