John E. Britton

John E. Britton of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of James E. and Etta (Holtz) Britton on March 12, 1927 in Iron County, Missouri and left from this life surrounded by family on Monday, January 30, 2012 at his home at the age of 84. John was united in marriage to Celia Ann Lee on November 2, 1953 and together they shared 58 years of marriage. John was a Logger all of his life, having operated the John Britton & Sons Logging Company. At a young age he traveled and helped with Logging Camps and later in life helped build Indian Hills Lake in Cuba. In his spare time he enjoyed horses, western movies, country music and spending time with family and friends. John is preceded in death by his parents James E. and Etta (Holtz) Britton; one son Johnny Edward Britton; six brothers and sisters Daisy Volner, Molly Watson, Ernest, Jack and Lydia Britton, Leona Dunham. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife of 58 years Celia A. "C. Ann" Britton of Cuba, Missouri; four children Sandra Kay and husband Donald Conaway of Cuba, Missouri, Janice Renee Britton of Cuba, Missouri, Lonnie James and wife Sylvia Britton of North Pole, Alaska, Diane Lynn and husband Neil Kuhne of Owensville, Missouri; seven grandchildren Lacy, Shelley, Amber, Jonathon, Christopher, Shannon and Taylor; five great-grandchildren Emily, Caiden, Haley, Carlee and Brooklynn; one brother James and wife Edwina Britton of Cuba, Missouri; two brothers-in-law Bob Dunham of Cuba, Missouri and Sonny and wife Peggy Lee of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and many friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 3, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 10:00 a.m. at Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor Alan Miles, officiating. Interment will follow at Skaggs Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri. If desired, memorials would be appreciated to the Alzheimer's Association. The Mizell Funeral Home is Honored to be serving the Britton family.
