December 22, 1948 — April 20, 2012

Gloria "Jean" Reeves of Bourbon, Missouri was born December 22, 1948 at Washington, Missouri to the union John and Josephine (nee: Chandler) Benfield and departed from this life on Friday, April 20, 2012 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 63 years. Jean was united in marriage to David "Dave" Reeves on July 23, 1966 and to this union three children were born Kara Jean, David Jr. and Jonna. Jean spent the last twelve years working for and volunteering at the Bourbon Elementary School and had spent seventeen years before that working at Paramount. In her younger years she worked for Fashion Shoe in Sullivan. Jean enjoyed reading, sewing (she made all of her daughters holiday dresses), crocheting, ceramics, flowers and watching the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball games and reality TV. What she truly enjoyed was spending time with her family and friends. Jean was a loving daughter, sister, sister-in-law, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, niece, cousin and friend. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Jean is preceded in death by her parents John and Josephine Benfield and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her loving husband of almost forty six years Dave Reeves of Bourbon, their eldest daughter Kara Jean and husband Kevin Bridgeman of Cuba, their only son David H. Jr. and wife Rochell Reeves of Jefferson City, Missouri and their youngest daughter Jonna Jo Reeves of Olathe, Kansas, five grandchildren Rick Bridgeman and fiance Kendra Keeven of Cuba, Beth (Bridgeman Summers) and husband Cory Gardner of St. James, Dustin Johnson, David "River" Reeves III and Sela Reeves of Jefferson City, Missouri, two great grandchildren Kenzie and Milly Gardner of St James and two more expected this fall, two sisters Mary and husband Gary Doyle of Cuba and Sandy and husband Mark Thilenius of Union, Missouri, two brother-in-laws Gerald Reeves of Cuba and Gene and wife Darlene Reeves of Strain-Japan, Missouri, mother-in-law Peggy Reeves of Bourbon, three nephews, two nieces and a multitude of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends. There will be a life celebration in her honor the evening of Sunday, April 29, 2012, from 5-9 p.m. at the Bourbon Community Center on Pine Street in Bourbon, Missouri. Anyone who would like to stop by is asked to bring any photos of Jean with or without themselves that they would like to share. Please write your name and phone number on the back if you would like it back after or "for the family' if it is a copy you wish to leave. Also handwritten or typed stories or anecdotes about Jean and yourself also to be displayed around the room for all to share and enjoy. Please email jean@bridgemancreations.com with any songs that have special significance to you and Jean that we would like to include in the play list of songs that will be playing. Songs need not be reverent although those will be included too. Already on the list are The Monkees and Cher, so feel free to ask for any song. No flowers please, if you wish to, you can make a donation in Jean's memory to the Susan G. Koman Foundation or any local cancer treatment center. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving Jean's family.
