Janet S. Smith of Cuba, Missouri was born on November 18, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri to James and Okel (Rutz) Tayloe. She left this life at her home on Friday, September 6, 2024, at the age of 80.
Janet was united in marriage to John D. Smith on January 20, 1962, in Bem, Missouri. To this union four sons were born Jim, Jeff, Joe and Jon.
Janet was a member of Trinity Chapel Presbyterian Church and Past Worthy Matron of O.E.S. Chapter No. 398. She retired after many years as a Rural Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service. She enjoyed cooking and flower gardening. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents James and Okel (Rutz) Tayloe; one son Joseph Andrew Smith.
Those who are left to treasure her memory are her loving husband of sixty-two years John D. Smith of Cuba; three sons Jim and wife Michelle Smith of Cuba, Jeff and wife Barb Smith of Owensville, Jon and wife Teresa Smith of Walnut Grove; seven grandchildren Lauren and husband Neil Bearden, Claire Smith and fiancé Eric Feldmann, Cassidy and husband Tyler Kliethermes, Nathaniel and wife Whitney Smith, Braden Smith, India and husband Nick Herrmann, Jonathon Smith and fiancé Kaylin Compton; four great-grandchildren Brooks, August, Aiden, Charlie and two more on the way; one sister Carole and husband Sonnie Dotson of Owensville; two brothers-in-law Edward and wife Connie Smith of Cuba, Robert and wife Barb Smith of St. James; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Chapel Presbyterian Church 1631 Hwy. 19, Cuba, Missouri.
O.E.S. Service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024, 2:00 p.m. followed by the Funeral Service at Trinity Chapel Presbyterian Church with Pastor Don Martin, officiating.
Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
If desired, memorials would be appreciated to Trinity Chapel Presbyterian Church or to the charity of choice.
