James M. King of Leasburg, Missouri was born Thursday August 5, 1937 to the union of Douglas Sr. and Rosa (Nee: Edgars) King. He left from this life, surrounded by family, on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at his home at the age of 82 years.
James was united in marriage to Sue King on June 30, 1961 in Leasburg and to this union two children were born, Terry and Brenda.
James was saved at a young age, he loved the Lord and was very active throughout the years at First Southern Baptist Church Leasburg, serving the Lord in many ways.
He enjoyed being outside, cutting grass, gardening and taking care of his yard. Feeding the deer, birds and squirrels brought him hours of enjoyment.
What he truly treasured most in life was putting the Lord first and trusting Him to work everything else out.
Prior to Sue's passing, they had shared 57 years of love and precious memories together. There is no doubt how much he loved her and his family.
James was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, step great-grandfather, uncle, great uncle and friend of many. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
James was preceded in death by his parents Douglas Sr. and Rosa King, two brothers Sylvia and Buster King, one sister Lorene Brush.
Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy, are one son Terry and wife Sherry King of Leasburg, one daughter Brenda and husband Steve Stephens of Leasburg, five wonderful grandchildren; Jennifer and husband Josh Brooks of Bourbon, Stacey and husband Robert Payne of Kirksville, Jamie and husband Bobby Allen of Lake St. Louis, David King of the United States Army, Carrie and husband Wade Lickteig of O'Fallon, Missouri, eight terrific great-grandchildren; Brady, Nevaeh, Carter, Noah, Connor, Logan, Emmett, Josephine, and two step great-grandsons Robby and Andy, brothers and sisters; Douglas King Jr. of St. James, Rosalea Gormley of Richland, Ralph and wife Debbie King of Leasburg, Virginia Farris of Cuba, Wayne King of Potosi, Leon and Pat King of Sullivan, one sister in-law Phyllis Woods of Sullivan, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday January 8, 2020 from 10:30am-1:00pm at the First Southern Baptist Church, 1861 Hwy H, Leasburg.
James' Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday January 8, 2020 1:00pm at the First Southern Baptist Church, 1861 Hwy H, Leasburg with Pastor Terry King officiating.
Interment and prayers will follow at the Crossroads Cemetery, Leasburg.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Southern Baptist Church in James' memory.
The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving the King family.
