James "Jim" M. Payne

James “Jim” M. Payne, a beloved resident of Cuba, Missouri, was born on December 16, 1943, in Vancouver, Washington. He peacefully passed away on October 17, 2024 at the age of 80, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan.

Jim was a dedicated concrete mason and proudly owned and operated Payne's Concrete Company for many years. Known for his strong work ethic, he enjoyed his time maintaining his property, undertaking remodeling projects, and cutting firewood. Deeply rooted in his faith, Jim held Bible study groups in his home, sharing his love for the Lord with others. In his leisure moments, he found joy in watching various sports, including football, basketball, golf, and tennis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Martha M. (Thomas) Payne; his son, James M. Payne, Jr.; and his siblings, Ray Payne, Wilda Payne, and Dorothy Payne.

Jim is remembered fondly by his daughters, Rose Payne of Cuba and Tonya Payne of Lakewood, Colorado, as well as his grandson, Jarrett James Payne. He is also survived by his two brothers, Harvey and his wife Johnnie Sue Payne, and Robert Payne, both of Farmington, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Mizell Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Kinder Cemetery in Cuba, Missouri.
