James Harold Wood

July 9, 1938 — March 18, 2008

James "Jim" H. Wood of Cuba, Missouri was born Saturday, July 9, 1938 at Portageville, Missouri to the union of Rayford and Margaret Loue Pearl (nee: Harrison) Wood and went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at the age of 69 Years 8 months and 9 days. Jim was united in marriage to Betty Jean Cissell on June 25, 1960 at St. Louis, Missouri and to this union two children were born: Pamela R. and James David. Jim graduated Central High School, located in St. Louis, in 1956 in the top ten percent of his class. He was a barber for 10 years at Pine Lawn, Missouri before he moved to Cuba were he owned and operated Jim's Barber Shop on Smith Street. He retired in 1995 after thirty plus years as a barber to become partners with his son Jamie in Uptown Auto Sales of Cuba. Jim was also a farmer in his younger years raising cattle and growing grapes. Jim enjoyed working all the time, but if he took a little time off he enjoyed fishing, deer and turkey hunting, cars, motorcycles, sitting outside on the porch (summer or winter) and watching action shows on TV. But what Jim enjoyed most in life was spending time with his family. Jim was a loving son, brother, treasured husband, devoted father and grandfather, son in law, brother in law, uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend to all. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. Jim is preceded in death by his parent Rayford and Margaret Wood, mother in law and father in law Dorothy and Arthur Kaufman, one sister in law Mary Palermo, two brother in laws David and wife Maxine Cissell and Kenneth Cissell and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to celebrate his life is his loving and devoted wife Betty J. Wood of the home, one daughter Pam and husband Mike Click of Cuba, one son Jaime Wood and friend Ruth Belcher of Davisville, five grandchildren: Grant and Garrett Wood, Josh and Nikki Walker and Megan Shaw, three brothers Clifford and wife Peggy Wood of Clayton, Thomas and wife Jean Wood of St. Charles and Elroy "Butch" and wife Rene Wood of Eureka, two sister in laws Barbara and husband Rodney Oliver of Dupo, IL and Kathy Bell of St. Charles, one brother in law Mariano "Pal" Palermo of St. Louis, long time special friends Ralph and Marge Carrol of Cuba, two extremely spoiled and treasured friends his cats Maggie Sue and Munchie and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friend. Visitation Friday, March 21, 2008 from 4 till 8 PM at Britton Funeral Home of Cuba. Funeral service 11 AM Saturday, March 22, 2008 with Pastor Jerry Beers officiating and Kenny Joy giving the eulogy. Special music for the service: Wish You Here, When I Get to Where I'm Going and Go Rest High on that Mountain. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association of the Shelter Pals of Cuba in Jim's memory. The Britton Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Wood family.
