James Donald Enke, 68, of Sullivan, passed away, on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, in the comforting presence of his beloved wife, Valerie.
On May 14, 1956, James was born to Bonnie Bunton in Cuba, Missouri.
James worked for Meramec Shoe Company for 25 years as a mold tech and would later retire after experiencing health issues.
He loved sports and was an avid Cubs & Kansas City Chiefs Fan. James loved to spend the weekends going camping with his family and spending quality time in the stillness of nature and having a good laugh with his family and friends. Most of all, James was a family man and loved being with his family, especially his beloved grandson, Logan. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Bunton; sister, Susie Lyons; father-in-law, Robert Hansel.
James is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Valerie Enke of Sullivan, daughter, Danielle Manier and husband Michael of Sullivan; grandson, Logan Manier of Sullivan; sisters, Cheryl Brand of Salem and Janet Woods of Salem; brother, Maple Walsh and wife Betty of Sullivan; mother-in-law, Carla Hansel of Sullivan; brother-in-law, Benny Hansel and wife Laura of Sullivan; close friends, Richard Rector and wife Molly of Sullivan; other relatives and many friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
