James Dotson

James Floyd Dotson, 67, of Leasburg, passed away, Friday, January 3, 2025, at Phelps Regional Hospital in the comforting presence of his loving family.

On June 15, 1957, Jim was born to the union of Gilbert Dotson and Mildred (Bacon) in Salem, Missouri.

His early education was received in Timber, Missouri.

Jim was united in marriage to Nancy (Bridgeman) on September 17, 1977, in Cuba, Missouri.

He was self-employed as a logger as well as a mechanic. James also used to work at Voss and Mid-State Lumber.

Jim loved being outdoors, especially in his younger years when he loved to hop on a chopper and tear up the pavement on an open road, his rugged style and the way he looked on a motorcycle may have been one of the ways that Nancy grew fond of him. As he got older, he enjoyed going hunting and fishing as well as visiting beautiful forests. Jim also liked going to the Street Outlaw drag races and monster truck shows. His enjoyment he got from going to these events, inspired him to buy and restore old cars and eventually selling them, but not before he got to enjoy them first. James wasn’t too much of a social butterfly but when it came to his family and close friends he enjoyed their company often. Jim will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert Dotson & Mildred Watson; three brothers, Rick Dotson, Wayne Dotson & David Dotson; two nephews, Lil’ Wayne Dotson Jr. & Scott “Bozo” Dotson; father-in-law, Richard Bridgeman; brother-in-law, Robert “Bob” Richardson.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Nancy Dotson of Leasburg; one son, Gary Britton & wife Lindsay of Washington state; three daughters, Crystal Polley & husband Matt of Cuba, Robin Pfeiffer & husband Danny Nie of Cuba & Jamie Dotson of Cuba; two brothers, Bill Dotson & wife June of Cuba & Trampus Watson of Salem; mother-in-law, Norma Bridgeman of Cuba; sisters-in-law, Rhonda Richardson of Cuba & Karen Poynter & husband Nick of Cuba; brother-in-law, Kevin Bridgeman & wife Kara of Cuba; eleven grandchildren, Aurora Pfeiffer, Dylan Lee, Jackson Britton, Victoria Pfeiffer, Blake Lee, Colton Britton, Isabella Dotson, Ethan Britton, Charlotte Britton, Grace Dotson & Cash “Money” Polley; one great-grandchild, Walker Summers.
